In Mid 2011, 49 Students graduated from Billy Blue College of Design and my role was as the Art Director / Project Manager (Digital Media), and maintaining the efficiency of the production team of 20 young designers.
The Graduation Exhibition in Billy Blue is considered as a live project where a group of students create a brief for themselves.
The concept directed the design community through a narrative of visual responses, based on the typical exchange that occurs during an interview for a design position. This approach provided attendees with a unique introduction to 49 fledgling creatives. Young designers revealed their personality, aspirations and inspirations in addition to their design skills. We aimed to supply industry with a head start in finding designers that are the ‘right fit’ on more important levels than simply design execution capabilities.
This exhibition was one in its kind in the Billy Blue’s History where all of the students work even the communication designers were portrayed digitally and the guests could interact with the exhibitors through iPads and iPhones at various locations inside the exhibition space.

This project’s brief was very open in terms of theme, i selected a song called “Sound of Silence” and tried to animate lyrics of that song. I actually created the 3D model and tried to animate type with After Effects on it, the inspiration was driven from my previous project “Together the Presets”, the idea was to take it a step ahead.
This project was one of the most challenging at the time. First, we were told to build a 3D model in an environment, choosing the look and feel of it ourselves. My inspiration came from one of the works our lecturer showed us; I selected an ambient occlusion based theme. The most challenging part was the next step, making a 15sec video as advertisement. Rendering the 15sec cut with 2009 iMac was a nightmare but it turned out to be a pretty good piece and made the cut for my portfolio.
This Project was the one of our group projects. The brief was to pick a problem experienced by real people in the real world and design a solution driven by digital media. My primary role in this group was Project Manager but I was also heavily involved in the conception and creative direction. The Videos below are the part of my work in the group.
This is one of the projects I worked on during my second year at Billy Blue. The whole process stretched over two semesters and went right from the research phase, through project planning, developing a delivery timeline, marketing plan, creating a final presentation and resulted in a printed book.
Description: I developed a fictional organisation to address the issues of young people learning not to judge people based upon race, colour or creed. Start Equality’s mission is to create awareness about this issue and then address it in a positive, measurable way.
Materials:
1) Info Book on India
2) Brand Stickers for Viral Campaign
3) Cd Package
4) Brand Bag
5) Website
6) TV/Web Commercial
This was my very first project using After Effects and it’s where I mastered ‘the basics’. The brief was to build a short typography animation and the theme was ‘Kinetic Typography’. You had to pick any song and animate the lyrics to it; the results of my choices (and an indication of my style) is below.
